Carpe Diem

We have been hit with, what I  call, bioterrorism--a terrorist act called coronavirus. I  came up with an acronym for coronavirus and what we are facing because of it: Canceling Our Routine, Overtaking National Agendas, Victorious In Rendering Us Sick.

Matthew 6:34 says, "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought of the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."

The first reason we cannot take much thought about tomorrow is that we don't control tomorrow. We have no guarantee that we will be here tomorrow. You have probably heard the saying, Carpe Diem. It means "seize the day." In other words, because we don't have control over what will happen tomorrow, we have to do the best with what we have, which is today.

Second, The Bible says, "Take no thought for tomorrow." You cannot control this crisis. I  cannot control the crisis. I  cannot control what tomorrow will bring. One of the things that we have learned is that one day can change the world forever. The events of 9/11 changed the world forever. December 7, 1941, changed the world forever. The atomic bomb dropped in August 1945 changed the world forever. Facebook changed the world forever. The Lord wants us to simply dwell on today. Why? Because this today will never come back. We cannot get back yesterday.

So, what can we do today? We can pray. There are no excuses. We have more time to pray. We have more time to encourage. We have more time to devote to God and to reading His Word.
